Inside Brady’s billionaire bunker, Canada-U.S. hockey rivalry heats up

Happy Friday. Not every athlete in the Olympics can win a medal, but they sure seem like they’re having a good time. The Olympic village apparently ran out of its condom supply in the first three days of the games. The math of this is pretty hard to believe: There were reportedly 10,000 free condoms supplied at the residences…and there are 2,900 athletes. That would mean, on average, every single Olympian went through over one condom per day.
The good news? Chances are there’s gonna be some freakishly athletic kids conceived in Milan. Can’t wait to see them on the podium in 2046.
In today’s letter:
Canada-U.S. hockey rivalry is alive and well
Tom Brady finishes up his $150 million billionaire bunker
Sam Darnold gets a rude Super Bowl tax bill

🌽 The Indiana Bears are close to becoming a reality. Indiana passed a law clearing the way for a new domed stadium in the state, which is not so secretly being planned for the (soon-to-be former Chicago) Bears.
It may not sound as sexy as the Windy City, but Northwest Indiana is basically Chicago with more corn, worse pizza, and fewer Subway car stabbings.
🏒 The Canada-U.S. hockey rivalry is delivering in Milan. The American women’s team took down the Canadians yesterday in a dramatic overtime win for the gold medal. On the men’s side, Canada and the U.S. both squeaked through the quarterfinals with OT wins of their own, setting the stage for another potential gold medal game on Sunday.
We likely won’t get a repeat of the Four Nations boxing match from last year, but you’re still not gonna want to miss it.
🏈 Sam Darnold somehow lost money from winning the Super Bowl. Thanks to California’s “jock tax” — which takes a cut of pro athletes' salaries based on the number of days they spend in the state — the Seahawks QB actually lost $249,000 during the Super Bowl week. Even his $178,000 Super Bowl bonus didn’t cover the tax bill. Brutal.
🏡 Tom Brady finished building his $150 million mansion in Miami’s ‘Billionaire Bunker’. It’s a bit bigger than your typical bachelor pad (25,000 square feet), but when your neighbours are Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos, you gotta swing big.
The neighbourhood, nicknamed Billionaire Bunker, is known for being the most tightly guarded and private piece of real estate in America.
We haven’t got Tom’s Architectural Digest video tour yet, but the pictures we do have are pretty absurd.
🏎️ Michael Jordan looked happier winning the Daytona 500 than he did winning NBA championships. MJ really only has three passions in life (none of which are basketball): NASCAR racing, talking shit on the golf course, and gambling. If you can combine any of those three, he’s truly on cloud nine.
🏀 The falloff of the NBA dunk contest needs to be studied. This used to be arguably the best event of any league’s All-Star break. Now, we get bench players doing mediocre dunks that look like they belong in a pre-game layup line at the YMCA.
The highlight was watching Jase Richardson give himself a concussion trying to do a pretty standard off-the-backboard dunk.
🤦♂️ Rashee Rice is back in legal trouble. Known law-abider and Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice is now being sued by his ex-girlfriend, who alleges he repeatedly assaulted her over an 18-month span, including while she was pregnant.
Shocking behaviour from a guy who nearly killed four people drag racing his Lamborghini, caused a six-car pile up, and then fled the scene.
🍾 An Australian sports anchor was caught doing a live Olympics broadcast drunk. She later apologized for having a few drinks before her live hit, but unfortunately, there’s no way to randomly slip words like “iguana” into an Olympic broadcast and have it fly under the radar.

Let the games begin. We’ve got a full NBA slate of Pick Six for this week. As always, we’re putting $50 gift cards up for grabs for the winners. Take on a few of the trivia games too (they keep your ball knowledge sharp).

Shoutout to @Digitalsong for hitting this 7-leg monster this week, taking pretty much every Over in College basketball for a tidy 65x return.

Alright, that’s enough yelling for one Friday.
Got a hotter take? Think we missed something? Want to argue that the Leafs are actually cursed by a 1932 ghost?
